'Region' Abandos Meddusfellgradabandos

Geographie

This part of Meddus largest continent is above all warm and extremely dry.
Winters can be quite cold, cold enough to need wear warm clothes.
Not as warm as Dead Man‘s Crossing and The Badlands in the north, the Mountains that gird the region, don‘t let much rain pass to the central plateau.
The West wind bring constant Ash storm from Volcanis deep into Abandos, makes the local live even harder and gives the landscape it typical red sandy look.
In the north-west vast prairies can be found, the seasonal monsoon from south-east provides sufficient rainfall to feed large herds of wild animals.
The two rivers, that flow through the area lead only enough water in the rainy season that ships can only sail them at this time.

Flora: Only a few plants thrive, mainly Mushroom trees and frugal brushwood.

Locations
Less developed than other places in Meddus, with a few solid settlements.


Necrom Entonom (the Chitin Tower)
City of the Dead built from the bones of deceased arthropods, who pilgrimage here to die here or whose remains are brought to Necrom in procession.
Aboveground are the shrines and the soaring bleach tower, the oldest part of the site.
Unlike other religious places, it is not permanently inhabited by priests.

Under the surface begin the catacombs, a vast branches labyrinth. Many adventurers and grave robbers dare each year in the underground passages, to stole the rich grave goods.
Of those who make it into, return only few even fewer successfully, the most get lost.
Some senile man reported by terrifying nature, whichever roam this realm, for most of the audience only fairy tales for children. But who really knows what lurks down there.

City of Oth
In the middle of the central plains, the city is an ancient termite mound which glory days has long passed. Other Species, native to Abandos, have settled as well inside Oth.
The termites, their numbers were insufficient to drang the, at first illegal new inhabitants out of there state, they had no other choice than to arrange themselves with the newcomers, so the city becomes a melting pot.

For outsiders, the power structure of Oth can be a bit confusing. The coexistence based on the Codex, this pact, which was formed several hundred years ago. As a proverb has it „ even those who believe in nothing, believe in the codex.“, for the Oths it is a unwritten law to respect the codex.
Beside the Dityn queen (or king), who normally always has the last word of all, the executive forces is formed by the Doges, one representative of each faction of the city.
Solely responsible for their subordinates and transferred functions, they are all more ore less loyal to the Rulers.
the ruler is determined by blood, on the other hand rise in the fractions is gain through performance.(everyone could be theoretic become Doge)
Ordinary citizens most of no-involved at infighting, when they are not necessarily
in the way.

Trade with outside is often difficult, the rivers carry only enough water seasonally and travel through the outer areas are dangerous for caravans. Result, the inhabitants of Oth are usually under themselves. The most indeed are not really interested in events from the outside, as long as it non limits there trade.
In addition, one of the oldest libraries Fellgrads located at Oth.

Signet : The form of the signet is just as important as the signet
itself. If it‘s carried on a medallion or born with, its
bearer is a master. If it‘s branded on the body, its
bearer is a slave.

Most common encountered spread all over the territory, with nests and outposts, they guard their frontiers wary. That’s the major reason for Morrigan and their people remain most of the time outside Abandos.
The all-seeing eye is there symbol, the more one is loyal the more symbols he wears on the body.

Currently neutral to Oth, some well- know have free access to the city, they even have their own quartier. Beside the entry on a wall is written "Speak friend or foe, and enters, it doesn‘t matter we slay everyone, sooner or later.“ typical T.H. humour.




Oth(Fraction)
main colors: purple, magenta, orang and silver

Doges : Beside the sovereign of Oth, the legislative, executive and judicative of that city.
Every Doge has its own domain where he or she supervise there minions, the are also the only ones allowed to give instructions to them or do a punishment.
In daily life, they work together generally, even if everybody of them believe there function is by far the most imported. Their council meets at regular intervals, not accessible to unauthorized or common citizens.

1. chief of the armed forces ( Lord Protector)
Under his command are the city ward, the guard and the scouts.
  • the city ward keeps order inside Oth
  • the guard is in charge for the safety of the roads and territory outside urban areas + security of monarch
  • the scouts keep a special rank inside the military forces, operate in outlying regions, they assist diplomats on there missions ( to protect them, are themselves trained in diplomacy and in order to obtain information), often higher rang scout themselves representatives of Oth.
    Scouts, however, not enjoy good reputation outside, as they now and then perform duties requiring unconventional solutions.
    Most of these assertions are exaggerated, for example, that Oth each souvenir representing a different opinion as the own, get sooner or later visit by one of there assassins.

2. chief overseer (Lord of the Chamber)
Responsible for compliance with the law, set out the penalty, respect of the codex, is not charge for the punishment of other Doges subordinate.

3. Chief of mains (Master of Pipes)
Take care that the infrastructure is working properly, includes without limitation the water supplies, ventilation systems, sewage works and keep running the systems. Engineers, architects, inventors and alchemists count among his minions.

4. chief preserver ( 'Dadan' = nickname for loving parent)
Care of the poor (there are a lot of them in Oth), healing, culture aspects in short all sorts of social tings first mediator in disputes. Above all healing, priest, juggler to work for him.

5. chief of trade (Mammon‘s right)
Organizes the trade craft, forge of commercial agreements, granting licences primarily for foreigners and collection of taxes and customs.
Members are for the most part craftsmen, thieves, clerks and navigators.
  • navigators hoard all possible sorts of information and maps about area and trade routes + find new safe routs, they are possible the people in all of Meddus, who know the best about all kind of places in the world. Even the Underworld is not completely foreign to them.
