PostSubject: Races and the Laws of each race's kindom   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:09 pm

Race boundries.
Choosing a kind of insect/arachnid you want is only for showing what that creature was based off of. As we want to be realistic but still fantasy. So all spiders are still Arachin. Just because I call Ben a Raft Spider does not mean he is a different race than Loment. They are both Arachins. Just different kinds.
I just wanted people to make characters based on real animals so that it is realistic in some ways. So we can have say a Luna moth but you want it to have Zebra Swallowtail markings and Monarch colors. Well it isn't a Hybrid! Its just a Lepidoran. Cross race offspring are still considered whatever their mothers race or which ever parent it most resembles. Even if the father is a Hyme and the mother is a Rhoparan. However, if we do eventually want to explore the route of 'hybrid children' that will have to be farther down the line once we have established more of this world. So you don't have to mention the insect or arachnid except to show the reference you used. Also no really totally unnatural looking babies okay. Keep some things as real as possible. Thats why we use actual bugs for these. And before someone calls me on Loment the big GAY pink and purple Golden Orb Spider. He is PAINTED! Thats right. he decks himself out in body paint. And makes his little band of bastard spiders be painted too. it like a gang affiliation thing...

Also you can have anything from in the Arthropod family. If it looks like a bug. I'll allow it. But ask first just to make sure.
After all I do have a Velvet worm. And that isn't even in the Arthropods either.
But no fake animals. So NO Pokemon. Sorry but it isn't real. So do not want.
But you can have a character that is an amalgamation of things from one race.
ie: Melon. Melon is in the grouping of Grasshoppers, crickets, and locusts. However, Melon himself is not one specific actual species. I used bits and pieces I liked from various animals of that group. But no crossbreeds. So no Ants with butterfly wings and Dragonfly tails.

PostSubject: Hyme   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:12 pm

Bee, Wasp, Hornet

New bloods all look humanoid. And unless they are based off a none hive oriented species. Please consult with the Queen before creating your own hive type. So as not to place your hive in another's territory or incase your Subrace is too far away from Meddus guidelines.

Old bloods about the same. However, if you make a LARGE sized old blood. A creature that big would have limitations. So your Old Blood Hyme must either not be able to fly too far off the ground (Above 20 feet) or cannot fly for long or too far.

PostSubject: Locun   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:12 pm

Grasshopper, cricket, locust based

Locuns can be born with wings. However, Locun cannot fly. Small or young can fly a short distance. But most Locun only use their wings to make a jump last longer or for gliding.

PostSubject: Scarabin   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:15 pm

Beetles

Usually large and heavily armored. Come in new Blood, Feral, and old blood.
New has a humanoid face, Feral has armor face plates, and old blood has a more insect body.
Scarabins can be born with wings... but cannot fly. Small or young can fly short distances but most can only glide.
Due to the powerful jaws, even in the most Humanoid ones, most Scarabins have heavy accents.
Like Russian, Norse, or Spanish.

PostSubject: Dromos   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:15 pm

Scorpions

Dromos do no have to have Pincers... but must have a tail. Doesn't have to be a stinger tail.
However, any archnid Meddian you make with a tail is considered a Dromos. It cannot be an Arachin.
You can have Dromos who have lost tails... but the wound must be obvious. (Large scar, missing armor pieces, stump)

PostSubject: Arachin   Mon Sep 14, 2009 4:15 pm

(Spiders)

Arachin's native tongue is actually comprised of clicks, purring noises, low rumbles, and gestures. Speaking "common" tongue as a second language. Most other species don't know Arachin unless they interact with one on a daily bases as it is difficult for other Races to recreate it.
Scarabin and Dromos seem to be the only races who actively learn it and can speak it properly.

Pygmy Arachin speak the same language but with a different dialect. They use high pitched sounds instead of low rumbles. Whistling and hooting instead of hissing and growling.

Arachins can have pincers. Also size limitations. The larger the Arachin... the less he has the ability to climb any surface. Loment's size and down can climb any surface, even smooth ones. Loe Kanum cannot climb a surface unless there are holds for him to put his 'legs' in.
Any Arachnid based Meddian that does NOT have a Tail is an Arachin. It cannot be a Dromos unless there is an obvious injury leading to the lack of tail.
